We're back... - H

Well, we arrived just less than two hours ago on a flight that was delayed for three hours. This after being in Switzerland for 5 days where everything is always on time - all the trains, planes, and automobiles...even closing time. While travelling by train, we weren't sure where we were supposed to catch the connecting train, so we asked someone who works there. He said we have twenty-five seconds to catch the train before it leaves. They are on time to the seconds! This really jives with me, and I could live in a place like Switzerland. They're on time. It's beautiful. The people are hospitable and friendly. It's outdoorsy.

Paris on the other hand...we didn't like it there so much. We were really exhausted by all the sight-seeing. We were probably as physically tired out by the hiking too, but physical activity is something we both enjoy and are relaxed by. Museums, art, historical churches, Versailles...they were impressive, but just not our cup of tea. I did like la Musee d"Orsay though. I think it was because it was more modern. I also like Monet. Seeing his paintings makes me smile, but I like the one housed at the Art Institute of Chicago a bit better.

One thing about Switzerland, they don't have AC. So, we stayed at a nice art deco hotel in Luzerne to celebrate the actual day of our anniversary. We're on the 5th (top) floor with a great view of Lake Luzerne. It's a bit warm in our room, so my beau looks for the AC switch. Lo and behold, there is no AC in the building. It's cool outside, and we have these wonderful French-door windows that open out to a small balcony, but there are mosquitos and no screens. They advise us to turn off the lights before opening the windows because of the mosquitos. I'd opened the windows before having read this, so of course I'd let all the mosquitos in. The hubby chased them down and killed them all. So, we'd go to sleep at night with the down blankets that were on the bed, and wake up sometime in the wee hours of the morning to open the windows and let in some cool air sans mosquitos. Our room happened to be near the big lit-up sign for the hotel, and those lights didn't go out until about midnight, so the bugs would hang around even if our lights were off.

All for now, but more stories later. g'night.
