Pursuing my dream...? - H

I signed up for a photography class at the local community college and attended the first class last night. This is the first step toward pursuing my dream of being a photographer and publishing a book of my photos one day. I just ordered some materials and equipment that I need for the class. I'm excited to see what I'll be able to do with it all.

I got an email from my former pastor who recently left with his family for the mission field. I look up to him quite a lot, and I felt really happy and special today. For some reason it's incredible to me that he would have thought of me and that he knows me a little bit more intimately than just as a former church member. That's a good feeling. I think it's the same way for the students I teach...and for me and I would guess for most people. It's a good feeling when the teacher knows you...and a bit more personally than just as a student in the classroom. Another former pastor of mine used to say this. "People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." Making some kind of connection with a teacher is what makes a student like the subject in most cases. It's hardly the other way around. ...something I've got to remember.
