Not a snob - H
So, whenever I talk about my cooking habits and preferences, I feel a bit sheepish about it, and I qualify my statement with, "I'm a bit of a snob about it..." Then I mention that I prefer to cook and bake from scratch rather than buying ready-made food. I guess I feel like I want to be sensitive to other people b/c I don't want others to feel bad if they don't feel the same way or something like that. Maybe this is saying more about how I would feel, and maybe I'm just projecting.
Anyway, what I realized is that the reason that I prefer cooking from scratch is b/c I'm committed to healthful eating, and by cooking from scratch, I can be sure of the ingredients that went into my food. I think it's easier than reading all the ingredient lists and figuring out what I want to and can eat based on my personal convictions about food. That being said, I'm not a nazi about it, and especially when in the company of other people, I will eat whatever is before me and enjoy it. So, I'm not really a snob about cooking and baking. I just prefer to start from scratch.
