gosh darnit! - H
So, the closer I come to having my own little ones, the scarier it is, and the more worried I get about dealing with such a drastic life change. It's good to have some perspective though. I'm beginning to understand that there isn't a one-size-fits-all experience of anything, and that there are lots of ways to do something, like raising kids. One of my biggest worries was about having to stop traveling, camping, and hiking - being active. What allayed some of my fears was reading about some of the products on REI's website and what age kids have to be to safely use them - things like child carriers for hiking. They also had tips about how to train kids to endure longer hikes and prepare them for a longer term camping trip. I also saw a photo of my coworker and their first camping trip with their 3 month old. I think it was pretty low key, but I realized that it's doable, and gosh darnit, I want to do it! =D
