Sweet potato baby - H

Well, the ultrasound tech said that sweet potato baby weighs about 10 oz. We only brought home 2 u/s pics, but I wish I'd asked for more. (I don't know if they take requests though.) I guess as a science person, it's just fascinating to me to see things like all the vertebrae, to have a photo of the heart, etc. It's just amazing to see how fully formed and well formed baby is despite the fact that baby is not developmentally/physically mature enough to live out here with us.

I love when we can see baby moving. Baby wasn't bucking like our first u/s, but we did see baby flip from facing to the right one minute and then facing the left then back again. I think we woke baby from restful slumber. We saw the heart beating, the full set of vertebrae, and we brought home a face shot where baby's head is resting on the right hand, and the forefinger of the left hand is resting on the chin, as if baby is pondering something. It's cute. The u/s tech was gushing about how cute this shot of baby is.

It just boggles my mind to think about having another person living and growing inside my body, and these u/s photos just bring humanness to what is otherwise a biological parasite. Its form is just like mine, and it's movements are familiar to me. I can't wait to meet my mini-me or mini-E!
