3 days to go - H

We've been away from home for a week now. 3 more days to go. Can't wait to be back home. While vacation is nice, being pregnant and on vacation isn't quite as nice. We were lucky enough to be able to take a trip to Maui this year, but all I've wanted to eat while out here is food like spaghetti, pizza, soup, cereal...you get the picture. What kind of food do there serve here? Hawaiian food or seafood and mostly with an island flair...or resort food. Not a big fan of resort food. None of that was appealing to me at all.

What I realize about vacation is that as long as I'm with animals, I'm happy. Interestingly enough, I'd be feeling sick all day, but when we went snorkeling and I saw a sea turtle, I didn't feel sick at all! Or, we'd stop at this scenic lookout and see humpback whales in the distance, and my nausea magically faded. Waterfalls, swimming in refreshing, freshwater pools at the foot of those waterfalls, beautiful beaches, sun...these don't delight me as much as the animals. Put me in a rainstorm following some deer, and I'll be perfectly happy photographing them in the rain. Seeing wild animals is awe-inspiring and makes me feel special b/c sometimes E and I have been the only ones to see an animal that those nearby missed. That happened the other day when we were snorkeling. A sea turtle came out of hiding and just floated on the surface about 5 feet away from us. It poked its head out of the water a few times to take some breaths, and after a short while it went to the floor and hid under some rocks and coral. No one else saw it but us. How special!

It seems kind of silly, but I feel like a kid whose dad is so delighted to delight with a toy or an ice cream cone. In this case, it's seeing animals in the wild. I really do feel like my Daddy does this for me. I know He's busy doing lots more significant things around the world, but He remembers me too! Now, that's special!
