Melted carseat - H
So, our first long trip with Baby J has been pretty smooth so far. It's been a little tiring though b/c the airline damaged our carseat. In fact, they melted it. That's changed the way we imagined touring the city, carrying Baby everywhere rather than strolling her, passing her around the table at meal times, rather than seating her nicely in her carseat. We also spent a decent amount of our 2.5 days in NYC shopping for a new carseat, buying one, carrying it home, then realizing that it's much too upright and then carrying it back to return it. Luckily, everyone has been pretty helpful and understanding. I've been quite satisfied with the customer service I've received at the baby store as well as from the airline.
So, how was it melted? Well, we gate checked it and left it on the tarmac in San Jose where they told us to. When they took the carseat to load it on the plane, it wound up much too close to the plane's exhaust and melted. I just laughed when I heard, and I wondered what that looked like. Was it a puddle of melted plastic, or was it just slightly damaged? I wish I could have seen it.
I was able to get a replacement carseat though that the airline paid for, and I got to pick it. (I didn't get to pick the last one.) Yea!
