Portillo's - H

So diva stayed with us about a week ago and as a thank you sent us a delux party pack of Portillo's Italian beef. It was complete with bell peppers, giardiniera hot peppers, broth, beef, buns, and very specific, almost scientific instructions. This is classic Chicago fare and on my top ten list of favorite things to eat. I make it a point to eat at Portillo's at least once whenever I visit Chicago. I can't tell you how happy I was to eat it and with some other Chicago transplants too! Thanks a bunch, diva!

Other things to eat in Chicago in no particular order:
1. Chicago style hotdogs at Portillo's.
2. Potbelly Sandwiches - I always get the roast beef. Milk shakes and cookies here are awesome too! I always make it a point to eat here too on my visits to Chicago.
3. Great Seas (Korean-Chinese)- for their acclaimed spicy chicken wings (kkahn puhnggi)
4. Chicago-style pizza (Giordano's, Edwardo's (very fresh), Lou Malnati's - which I've actually never had, Gino's East - with their cornmeal crust, Pizzaria Uno is okay)
5. Walker Brothers Original Pancake House for their baked pancakes. Mmmmm...
6. Oberweiss is a dairy. They have shops where you can buy their ice cream, milk, and other products. You can also buy the milk at the super market. I don't regularly drink milk, but I love Oberweiss milk! Even their skim milk is creamy!

Summertime is all about food, fun, and festivities in Chicago. The Taste of Chicago should be starting in just a couple of weeks. Then there's Jazz fest, dancing in Grant Park, Ravinia...I should find out what kinds of things go on here in the Bay Area. Anyone know?
