Seeing - H

The more I'm exposed to the practice of art, the more I enjoy the world around me. It makes me observe the things that are going on around me rather than blocking it all out. You know how it is. We walk from here to there, the parking lot, to the store, through the store and back. Then we drive home and hardly notice anything that was going on around us...or we walk to the park or down the street, etc. I've especially enjoyed observing children. They are absolutely hilarious when you take a moment to notice how they interact with their surroundings and with you if you let them. I think I understand a bit better how art helps you see the world differently. I imagine that it's the same for those who know music. I'm guessing you'd listen to music differently and hear things that the casual listener doesn't notice. Visual art is just the same. I don't know if this pursuit is going to take me anywhere, but it is definitely enriching...and it even helps me to connect with the world around me in ways that I never have.
