Today - H
One highlight of my day was going to the farmer's market and discovering a vendor that sells pasture-fed pork. Their diet is supplemented with organic corn and barley a few times a year, such as when a sow is pregnant or a a pig has just been weaned, but other than that they roam freely and eat the greens in the field as they are supposed to, rather than being penned up in small stalls where the floor is a grate through which their excrement falls. Either that or they're in a big pen, overcrowded with many other animals and they roll around in their excrement. They can get so stressed out by the conditions that they engage in some strange behaviors like eating their own waste matter. Anyway, the vendor at the farmer's market had some photos of the live pigs, and they were really cute and truly happy looking. Pigs are actually pretty clean animals normally, but it's the way they're raised on these pig farms. I don't know that we eat enough pork to buy an entire pig or half a pig, but it's good to know that there's a place where I can get some quality, locally raised pork.
We've been enjoying our grass-fed beef. Today, I sliced one of the ribeyes to make a little bit of bulgogi. It's definitely a lot leaner so the meat isn't as moist when grilling it, but it sure was tasty! I've definitely been enjoying Korean food again too. I hardly ate any during my pregnancy. It just wasn't appetizing. I've been eating kimchi regularly though for the last several days. YUM!
Well, 7 days until the official due date. I really was hoping that she would decide to be early, and she still can be, but my gut feeling is that she won't be. Maybe she'll end up being a July baby. She seems pretty content in there. C'mon, baby. We're all waiting to meet you.
