t - 4 days - H
Just 4 more days. This is one of the worst weeks because everyone is looking forward to the break and no one really wants to be at school, even me. After a long semester everyone is tired, the kids are rowdy, and my patience grows thin. There was no smiling from me during 7th period today. It was all business b/c I just wanted the day to be over.
Teachers do have a great schedule, but after working closely with 170 young people day in and day out, it's a necessity and not a luxury. There is no way that I could keep going without a break and expect any of the kids to like me by the end of the year. I'd be burned out and very grumpy. As much as I do love my kids and my job, I need moments away to recharge as do most teachers.
It's awesome to ride a board! So we went to Sierra, and while the slopes on the West Bowl were nice, I don't know that we'd go back there. It was a little small and very crowded. I typically like wide open slopes (which is why I like Kirkwood) and Sierra's trails were relatively wide and nice to ride. Still, I don't think it's worth the cost of the lift ticket, even the discounted one. Maybe if they sold the tix for half price. The snow conditions weren't bad but still not ideal. The snow was icy in the morning and then a little slushy and slow in the afternoon. The high was around 50 degrees that day. It would probably have been better to go to Kirkwood since the elevation is higher and the snow conditions would have been better.
Well, one month until we hit the slopes of Whistler-Blackcomb Mountains in Canada. Woo! I'm really psyched!
