Customer service and baby registries - H
So, I looked into opening a baby registry at the stores that seem to be popular with most people. Their return policies are horrible! They're either really complicated and have all kinds of rules, and/or they flat out take your money. One store says that even if you have a receipt you would get the lowest price in the last 30 days rather than the purchase price on a return. Not only that, the customer service on the phone was horrible. The person I talked to in the registry department didn't even know the policies. Maybe b/c they are discounters, and maybe a lot of discounters have horrible return policies and invest little in customer service, but I was thinking about the kind of service and return policies at the stores at which I opened my wedding registry, and they were really good! I opened a wedding registry at a discounter too.
So, what to do, what to do. I think I must be spoiled, and I think I'm looking for customer service in a day and age when big companies think more about their bottom line than serving their customers. I suppose they are giving customers what they want, low prices, but I'm old-fashioned in that I'd support a merchant that gives me good customer service over the lowest prices...of course within reason. Maybe shopping for baby stuff is just different than shopping for home stuff. I'm sure there are quite a few people out there that use a product and try to return it after a few months after baby has grown out of it. Still, I was disappointed by the stores I looked into today. sigh.
