The holidays...already? - H

Thanksgiving just snuck up on me this year. Maybe it was the lack of anticipation b/c I'm not working this year. By this time of year, I was always looking forward to a long weekend when I was teaching. For some reason it was always a long grueling trek to the holiday break and to the end of the semester. I can't believe that Thanksgiving is in just a few of days, and that Christmas and New Year's Day will follow shortly thereafter. Seriously, when did all this time pass? I guess I've been preoccupied with baby and stuff, and it just hasn't crossed my mind. Now that I'm thinking about the holidays, I feel a bit rushed to get the holiday decor out and to find those few things I wanted to add this year.

I've been thinking about traditions, and what holiday traditions I'd like to start in our own family. It's a little hard to decide b/c we can choose whatever we want. I like day dreaming about a future time when we'll be able to reminisce about our holidays and traditions with our grown kids and perhaps their kids. Maybe our kids will even keep a few when they have families and talk about, "When I was a kid, Grandma would..." and that "Grandma" would be me! That's a warm thought.
