A mom's job - H

I've always thought that for a mom that stays at home, her job included keeping house and taking care of the kids. In my mind that included doing most of the household chores and all other miscellaneous tasks. I have now decided that taking care of the kids is her job, (what I would equate with the working dad's office job) and taking care of the home is the job of the entire family. So, for example, in practice that might mean that making dinner isn't the sole responsibility of the person staying at home with the kids (unless you decide that that is the arrangement that works best for you.) The default should not be that the person at home will pick up the slack on anything left undone.

I think I've just realized that managing the home is as much about letting go of the responsibilities and not about doing it all. It's tempting to try to do it all, to try to be that superwoman, but I'm frankly not really that interested in that. There are other things I'd rather be doing.

We should be moved in this week. There's still a lot that we need to think about, but at least we'll be home. Woohoo!
