Highlight - H

A student of mine was accepted into a really good school out east, a school, which I believe, that she wasn't necessarily banking on. Plus, they are flying her out to visit the campus, AND they are giving her a good amount of funding to pay for tuition. HOORAY! She was jumping up and down and is still on cloud 9. I was particularly excited for her b/c I felt like the small part I played in writing her rec might have made a small impact, although I assured her that I only wrote a paper. She really did all the rest. Still, I was glad I could be part of that.

I remember that I didn't really think much about applying for college. It wasn't this exciting new frontier where I was going to begin exploring the world out there and even learn about myself. It was just the next step in my education, the thing you do after high school. I think I must have missed a lot in my high school education and even in college. In retrospect, I wish I had thought more about it and figured out what I wanted in a school, had a goal, and worked for it. It would have been nice to experience the thrill of achieving that goal.

Anyway, I'm very proud of my student! I just wanted to share.
