Passing the time - H
At 3:50AM I am awake and blogging b/c Baby J woke up and cried for no apparent reason and then went back to sleep a half hour later after drinking some water. Was she really just thirsty? Actually she may be teething. Over the weekend I found 3 new teeth. I think all of her second molars are coming in all at once. Eleven teeth and counting. Anyway, I couldn't fall asleep for a number of reasons, so here I am on the internet, the king of all distractions.
How did the weekend go? Well, Baby J handled the flights much better than expected. I was surprised at how well she handled the cross-country trip. She took her naps and ate her meals on the plane which helped distract her a lot, and then she was just entertained by all the new sights on the plane and off. Thank goodness! The worst part was getting stranded in St. Louis b/c our flight was delayed which caused us to miss our connecting flight. Even that wasn't that bad when compared to other flight mishaps I've had in the past. All in all a great weekend, but of course we're glad to be home.
E bought me a massage for Mother's Day this year, so I got a deep tissue massage yesterday on my back, shoulders, and neck. I've never had a deep tissue massage before. It's quite painful, and I'm now sore as if I had worked out. Apparently my body is quite tight and knotted up. When the massage therapist worked on my neck, he asked me if I'd been in an accident of some sort, a car accident or a bad fall. I said I hadn't, and he asked me if I was sure. My neck muscles are so tight that it looks as if I've endured some kind of trauma like that. So, after an hour long massage, I'm looser, but still quite tight. I don't think any of the knots were thoroughly worked out. It just makes me think I need to get back to exercising and take care of my body. I don't really have the energy or motivation, but if I want to avoid chronic problems in the future, I should probably make that a priority.
Baby's latest tricks. She's walking! She's still relatively unstable, but she can make it several feet if she's careful. To keep her balance though she walks with her arms up like Frankenstein, so we call her Frankenbaby. It's so funny! She's at this stage where she's picking up words pretty quickly. So, last night we fed her some bahp and gheem, and told her, "Bahp?" as we were feeding it to her. She says, "Baaahppp." So far her vocab has probably increased to about 5-10 words, a lot of them syllables or parts of actual words, but enough to communicate. It's amazing! I'm amazed! My baby is so amazing to me.
